The Film Division in the School of Dance, Film, and Theater at Ohio University offers a three-year MFA graduate degree in Film Production and a two-year MA graduate degree in Film Studies. A BFA degree is offered through the Honors Tutorial College to exceptional undergraduate students. Located in the rolling hills of southeast Ohio, the program offers students a unique environment to grow and develop in their field of study.

The MFA/BFA program features a Directing track where students work in narrative and documentary modes. Students can also choose a non-directing track in Screenwriting, Cinematography, or Post-Production. Graduates of the program are enjoying active careers in film, television, and academia throughout the United States and around the world. Notable alumni include Megan Griffiths (LUCKY THEM, EDEN, THE OFF HOURS), Todd Rohal (THE GUATEMALAN HANDSHAKE, THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM), Tony Buba (LIGHTNING OVER BRADDOCK, STRUGGLES IN STEEL), Wendey Stanzler (episodes of GLEE, PARKS AND RECREATION), Ed Lachman (DP: ERIN BROCKOVICH, FAR FROM HEAVEN), Christopher Faloona (DP: episodes of THE MENTALIST, WITHOUT A TRACE), Brianna Bennett (VP Drama Development, CBS Studios).

The MA in Film Studies program prepares students for further study at the doctoral level and careers in film criticism, arts administration, or archive and preservation work. Students in the program regularly present in conferences nationally and internationally. Graduates of the Film Studies program have gone on to distinguished careers as scholars and professors.
